4 months (a litte late)

Current update: Liana is recovering from her cold and is doing so much better. She still has a cough that sounds bad and I suction out her nose with every feeding (every 3 hours) and there is still tons of gunk. But other than that she seems happy and is still eating like a champ.

Please pray: Wade linked to this on his blog, but I wanted to tell everyone to please pray for our friends the Freemans. I think most of you know Kayleigh and she is such an amazing little girl. If you haven't read their blog you need to take some time and start at the very beginning to know what a miracle she is. She is having some big complications and we need everyone to get on their knees and pray for her.

The girls turned 4 months old on the 18th (this is 1 month their corrected age) and I have been meaning to post their birthday pictures. They are so adorable and getting so big. I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am to have them home with us. We are actually sleeping in 4 hours stints at night. However, they kind of wake up a different times so I don't get 4 hours. But there is something about having your babies away from you for 3 months that makes you not mind to wake up at 3:30 am. Don't get me wrong it is really hard especially with two, but through it all I don't want this baby stage to end. I feel like I already missed so much of their little lives since I couldn't be at the hospital all the time and I want every second to be one that I cherish. Anyway, look at my beautiful babies.

And here are the girls' separate shots. These babies are gorgeous! Here is Adleigh.
Here is Liana.

My daughter had reflux pretty bad. She would scream after lying flat in her crib for a few minutes. She ended up sleeping in a swing for almost nine months before transitioning to her crib. I mentioned the sleeping arrangement at a well baby check-up and you could tell the doctor did not approve. He told us to put a small rolled-up blanket under her mattress at the "head" end of the bed, but it didn't work for us. She ended up either sleeping in an inclined position on our chests while we sat in a recliner; or in her swing. She is three now and still gets a lot of tummy aches. Especially when she eats raisins (which she LOVES). Other than that she is growing and developing normally and the swing was a lifesaver for us. Hope this helps.

Your daughters are precious!

My daughter was premature too (34 weeks). We did not have any problems. She did not have to go to the NICU, no help breathing, as a matter of fact she came out SCREAMING, which I knew was a good sign. If I had read stories like yours and Kayleigh's before my daughter was born early I would have been terrified. I have always believed that God does not give you more than you can handle and since I have fibromyalgia he knew I couldn't handle it. I have always given thanks to him for my life and my children, but after reading your blog and Adam and Aimee's I really did drop to my knees and just pour out thanks to him. I admire your strength in all that you have been through. I will pray that the Lord watches over Liana and Adleigh.

I found your site through Kayleigh's two months ago and was actually here to check on another baby that was born early and referenced on your site but I am having trouble remembering her name. Well at least I can still remember my name. LOL

My daughter had reflux pretty bad and would not sleep in a crib, or anywhere lying flat for that matter. She spent most of her first nine months sleeping in a really comfy swing my mom found. It had a really nice cushioned cover and it also reclined pretty far. I mentioned to the doctor that she was sleeping in her swing a lot and he told us to put her in the crib and put a small rolled-up blanket under the mattress at the "head" end. I don't think he approved of the swing for sleep. It just didn't work for us and the only other way she would sleep was on my chest or my husbands chest on an incline. We used the swing for about nine months until she could tolerate the bed. She is three now and still has stomach problems. She gets a lot of tummy aches (raisins are the worst and she LOVES them) but she is growing and developing normally. Hope this helps.

She was premature also (34 weeks) but we took her home with us in three days when I left the hospital. She spent no time in NICU, as a matter of fact, she came out SCREAMING and breathing on her own. After reading about all your family and Kayleigh's family has gone through, I only now realize how blessed my family was. I have always been thankful and praised him for my life and my children, but seeing these other babies fight for life helps to put our little problems into perspective.

Your daughters are both precious!

Now I have to get back to Kayleigh's site;)

Hey Ferris, You are right, they ARE gorgeous, and such a treasure.
I don't remember if you ever updated us on Adleigh's billiruben. . .if you did, I guess I missed it. I'm so happy that Liana is recovering from her cold. I know how those coughs can break a heart. We hurt when they hurt. Hope you have a great week. I love you all.

the pics are great! you're a great mom! and I can tell you that taking separate pictures is a very important thing to remember! being a twin myself most of all pics we're together. . which makes sense yet it's neat to see each as an individual . . especially as they get older and you want to make a scrapbook/video at some point. . although now being older I think the pics of my twin and I together really reflect our lives because we are inseparable, we are always together so to have us in photos together really only makes sense!! Keep up the good work. I admire you very much!
